Hell yeah brother you're on the policeman for on youtube channel. All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to fix the elko with no time left for sick week, which starts on monday. So we have a couple of days to have this thing ready and, as you guys know, the el camino had a perfectly good engine in it and we went ahead and pulled that out, which is now right here and has some major upgrades. So after the christmas tree race, we went ahead snatch the engine out and that was zach's idea more boost, oh yeah, all the boots.

Basically, we were having problems, because every time we turned the car up to about 35 pounds of boost, we would bend one of the steel rods that was in it. So zach was like dude. It's time we switch to aluminum rods, we're tearing this thing down. Every freaking week to change out one of the rods, let's put some beefy big dog rods in it and that's exactly what we did now.

What we have here is an aluminum rod diamond fully skirted piston setup. It's the same block, same texas, speed crank and we also have a set of frankenstein f series heads on this thing. These are bad to the bone. Heads check this out, yeah o-ring exhaust ports right here, one-inch deck, it's pretty crazy, yeah! It's nice got a super thick deck on these things, so that you can get a ton of clamping forks and not have to worry about head gaskets as much plus copper, head gaskets and not to mention we have copper head.

Gaskets now should hold up to like 50 pounds of boost, maybe even more beforehand we were running, you know, 35 pounds of boost was the max we ever saw. We bent rods lifted heads. This is the combination that should hold all of that together and we're gon na toss it in and find out for six weeks. Oh yeah, the only problem is, you know having aluminum rods, they don't have the same life span as say a steel rod.

So we might have to change out the rods here and there every couple hundred heat cycles, which is no big deal because beforehand we were pulling the rods out every other pass. So, theoretically, we should have less maintenance with these puppies so really excited to try out these frankenstein heads. As you guys know, we have a frankenstein intake that giant billet intake. These are their cylinder heads and they are apparently really gnarly, so we're gon na try it out and then last thing fast forward, race engines when they put it together.

They also change out the camshaft and it's now solid rollers, so no more hydraulic lifters. This is a solid lifter, solid roller valve train, which means we can rev it super high and uh make all them horsepowers. All the horsepower boost is just a number now. This is just a number now dude.

Hopefully we don't have to worry about it. So this is really exciting and we're gon na go ahead and slap it in the elko today. One thing that does kind of hurt us is that these heads move the placement of the manifold just a smidge, so we have to make sure that the turbo kit still fits. This is a bad unit right here, we're gon na, get it all geared up and rip it on sick week and hopefully go a six.
We got the new bullet in got to just put this front motor plate on then we're going to see if the turbo kit is going to fit. Ty has got his fingers crossed otherwise i'll be riding that pit bike. Oh you put, this is a goop. Oh yeah, oh yeah, i pulled her off huh, see the goods shaft mount dude.

Looking legit. Look at those valve springs. It's going down boys. We have solid news, turbo kit bolted up.

So if you run these frankenstein heads good news for you, you might not have to refab your turbo kit, so moves them just a little bit and we were able to kind of wiggle everything around loosen some stuff up, got it on so ty. Your job's easy. Today, oh yeah check out them lifters boy gon na learn today thick boy crowers in there solid, no give no squoosh alrighty guys. So we ran into a couple of problems here.

The new crank trigger bracket will not fit because we have too much going on so ty's gon na have to fabricate something to hold the crank signal, pickup and then also on these new frankenstein heads. They have a six steam port, which obviously ours is like a stock style one. So we got ta fix that, but the intake is on. We just have to get it to the shop, so ty can start fabricating and then we will button everything up and it seems like the turbo kit's really good.

So we're not that far away, but we got to overnight some parts we're getting some motion. Race works, coil bracket holders for these valve covers dude. I want one of these trophies compact series winner holy crap. That's for the little car race, yeah good thing, it'll stall, the eagles there's four, oh! So i'm winning one for sure you better! I can't not win one, that's so cool trophy game for real dang man.

We got some more issues, so this thing's off a good, i don't know, is that half inch we tried to pry it up. To be honest with you guys and it's not moving. So i'm going to have to cut probably about an inch above this weld and raise it and make that thing fit. Do all right.

Well, we got dr tunamo in the house what's happening. I think we should probably uh probably break the news to the people, which part do you know the news, this fresh bullet here we go not just a fresh bullet. The fact that i'm riding with you on raceway - yes, sir sick week, partners dude so kevin's driving his car brandt's riding with his son. I got dr tuna ball dude.

This couldn't have worked out better yeah, it's your first one. I know this is gon na. Be great - and i feel like you're already so in tuned with this car that we're just i'm dude, i'm excited we're gon na dominate to play with this new motor. I know we got ta test a little bit, hopefully beforehand we have two days, so we can test today and then work out any kinks after the idea go fast, so we got a little bit more compression a lot stronger combination, though we got.
You know bad to the bone, rods pistons and we have o-ring head gaskets in the whole nine. So how much boost we gon na run? That's what i was hoping you'd say: if you ain't bending you ain't standing boy except the swimming bruh, so they don't bend. They break yeah, okay. Well, we don't want that.

They don't want to do that with us. This is gon na be different for you, man, because normally you know we're just tuning up to win a race, but this is, we got ta drive yeah. My goal is to go fast like first hit everywhere. We go that's a steep goal, but i i that's what i want to do like first hit one or two minutes and we're good going on to the next round.

That's the always the goal for a race week, but we'll see what happens. George are you putting in some spark plugs yep fresh units? Okay, okay, we're gon na get it dialed in boys. We got our crank trigger set up down there. Yep ty had to add a little sliver to our turbo kit, so after all, it did have to get welded just a smidge and learn that we're pretty dialed up all right folks, we got this thing ready to fire.

We think we're gon na check the timing before we try and fire it off, because we have a new crank trigger deal so that might throw things off a little bit, but we got some water in there. So we can street drive and we're gon na get a timing light on it make sure number one's where it's supposed to be yeah. It is then we can try and fire it. Otherwise, we don't want to do that brand new in hit that button in there boy, oh okay, second one in may i hit that thing.

Wait. Should i do it here, you could do it there. You go boys ready. Is it gon na sound a lot different? Might pop that's why i don't know oh yeah, it might be 180 out.

Oh baby, come on! Oh yeah, oh no, hey we got ta have some sort of leak. First, fire up, you wouldn't be working for a second kind of backfire and all that, oh and then it was just public. It's just loose. It's just loose.

Is it that's nice, okay, cool? I got ta make sure the timings are definitely gon na seal the stuff. Okay, spray: it real quick, all right, let it rip again yeah i was thinking. Maybe i should be in there because then you can hit the switch yeah! Oh yeah! Well, it's working! It's making me how much 75 pounds oil pressure! Okay, a little bit of time in life. I do all right, so we're 10 degrees off we're 10 degrees advanced here.

So we need to go pull 10 degrees out of the offset you can speed. If you can do that or you can do the reference angle. That's all i was gon na do and fire all the way yeah it's off. Now you got ta, go back the other way.

Don't talk to him. Let him think that's a rod. Bender 9000 right there, boy and three two one thanks: let's go that sound good! All right, so we got our timing set and then we checked our inductive delay, which basically higher in the rpm the engine goes. Sometimes your timing will creep.
So we got that all dialed in ready all righty folks. Well, we are headed to the racetrack we're going to make something happen today that right, doctor tunama, we're so close to sick week really hope this track day goes good. We don't have a lot of time to uh fix anything if it doesn't go right, but shout out to the team for making it happen. Hey you guys, know you're matching today, yeah, that's cute! That's cute track guys all right, so we're heading over to the track.

Right now to test this thing, but you guys will have to tune back in for that, because that is it for today, thanks for watching see you later, you.

i cant WAIT for industrial grade diamond, the 2nd hardest material known to man, to be a lot faster and cheaper to make, so u can make an engine, rods, driveshaft and more out of it…

if you get time can you do some more reaction video to Sam in some your car around the shop…. please… the last vidoe was awesome

Always wondered why you kept going with the PRC heads. Not bad for lower set ups but the Frankenstein heads will wake that baby up a lot. The solid roller is definitely a plus and the aluminum rods are a plus too. Should of done all these to begin with!

Been a blast having Sam on the team. Would love to see y'all surprise him with a build of his own

This motor should hold you over till you put a big block in and pass down the motor to Ruby or Leroy.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tee Mann says:

You should put dual water meth kits on the charge pipes, to add more cooling and save your plugs on high boost.

Im no car guy or whatnot, but ive got a bit of metallurgy in me, you said, you kept bending rods, steel rods, and you switched to aluminum, a far softer more pliable easily bendable holds up to heat less well metal? Doesnt make sense to me. Hows that work?

You can bend an aluminum bar by hand way way waaaaaaay easier than a steel bar. Just seems like, by every metric, every quantifiable thing, aluminum rods would certainly bend waaaaaaaaaaay easier and faster than steel rods…

But like i said, im no car guru. I would love an explanation though! Gimme the knowledge, i needs it!

C'mon Cleetus. Just do what really needs done and what everyone wants to see and have Mr. Steve Morris build you the baddest SMX engine to toss into Mullet. Then you can really throw some boost at it and run those low 6 second passes everyone is wanting to see with ease.

Just watched Nate's video at the track…. this ole girl is a spicy unit. Sounds beefier too!
    Also congrats to Parker.

I miss leroy, would anyone like to see leroy with a sequential gearbox? Rather than manual? For me the novelty of it being manaul has worn off, I just want to see it in action and going as fast as it could while still keeping some "cool factor" with a sequential.

I know I'm going to get quite a lot of hate for this and don't get me wrong i love the channel and everything going on but the same old 427 or 5.3 LS in every single car (except a few) is getting kinda boring if I'm being honest after 5 years I'd just like to see some variety… it could be a VW Bug engine for all i care but just not the same V8s all the time ya know? I get LSs are easy and reliable but ZzZzZzZzZz

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars nate cote says:

Someone needs a race week where you have to do the whole thing on the same engine(internally as well no piston or rod changes), same transmission ect i hate how on race week some teams get to the track they change the transmission, change the rear-end, and put either a different engine, or change the pistons, cams turbos ect that's bs to me it's not the same vehicle just the shell that's doing the driving.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars DuskyTheHusky says:

Ahh. See. But now there's another problem… If they aren't bending rods anymore, that technically means there not sending.

Hey I don't make the rules here. 😅

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David From Atlanta says:

it seems funny how much time and money you can spend on a pos el camino to make it go 1 second faster for no other reason than to said you did it. sweet

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Zach Martin says:

Can we give George a Calvin Klein sponsorship? He was representing pretty well while putting the engine in 😂

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alex Good says:

Aluminum rod's good for several hundred heat cycle's, so another words cleetus will change them after they break.
