All right Buenos dias! Here we go. We are back at Extreme Sports Park. Boat's looking good man. you know she's patched up but uh I'll tell you this guys last time we're here we hurt the engine as well as the side of the boat.
I Guess so pull the valve seat up into the head. Luckily Ryan's guys took the heads off got it fixed so we are back in. Action How you feeling today? Buddy you feeling ready? Feeling ready? You know? boat's Gonna Be Ready Everything's been gone through? Yeah. I Feel like we're good? I Feel like we're good.
She's put back together. They even went and ran it, made sure everything's good. We do need to check our carburetor because this thing's running pretty lean and we think that's maybe why the valve seat got pulled up into the head. or maybe it's because I hit the chip so hard when we launched out of the track a couple times in the chip.
Not a good yeah, so not a good mix so hopefully everything goes well. Today we got that rotation. We're starting to memorize it. We're getting there all right.
So I thought it'd be fun to put this on here for you guys so you can see the rotation for yourself and how it works. This is obviously a way slowed down version of it and keep in mind this is just a computer made graphic so it's not a perfect description of the track, but you can do your best to try and remember these turns. Feel free to rewind the video a couple times and try to memorize this because this is what we have to do before we jump in the boat and try and be competitive. It's pretty darn tough to remember all these turns and do it fast because if you miss just one turn you are out. It's a do not finish for that round so gotta make them count. Hey do you want me to do a chip check on the truck? Yeah dude. Check the Tundras chip real quick. We know the rev limiter on the Boat Works rev limiter on the rental work and we're ready to do some Sprint boat racing today Guys, we're fired up so let's go warm this puppy up and get ready for qualifying today.
All right guys, we just put some bigger jets in. It's really nice and cool outside right now so you know that lower D.A density altitude. We're gonna need a little bit more fuel and obviously we we hurt the engine before so we needed to change something. Hopefully we'll be good to go.
Dude, are you pumped or what? I'm fired up I Love this track. Thank you All right! Round two: Round two for some smaller jet today. it was a little fast. all right guys.
this carburetor's kicking our butt. We went too fat. now we're backing down trying to get leaned out, but we found the plugs. so now we're putting plugs in it.
We're also changing the jet again. You know these I really just prefer computers and it's good, but this glass only allows carburetors. All right guys. So in our efforts to figure out what was going on, we pulled the plugs again and we turned it over to check the valve blast and it shot fuel out of cylinder seven and eight.
So Bam! we just found out right there we got an issue with fuel leaking out into the cylinder. so hopefully we're on the right track now. we'll get it sorted out. Let's go Foreign foreign I Barely knew where we were going bro you're I was looking at your hand like oh yeah, we got to go there All right? Well at least we gotta run because now we have footage to watch.
Yes and the boat ran Okay, it's definitely down in power for sure. if I could be honest with you on something I know I directed some turns pretty late because even I was like second guessing I was like where are we going hey, we got Q1 done. They're not fast. we got it running.
Oh okay, that's a big Advantage not fast Yeah dude. So our buddy Justin just found that the power valve was loose in the carburetor. That was our problem. He tightened it up.
we didn't even test it. It freaking worked. It didn't work great. Oh so I think we're starting to get a timing mark I'm not 100 sure but I think we're starting at a time right about where my fingernail is and as far as the fuel goes I think it's lean so we're gonna pull up a laptop look at the air fuels. but at least we made a run. dude. We literally had to call our five minute mechanic time out and we showed up with about 10 seconds to spare and it fired up and ran good I was like what is that? What are the odds? All right, we're on qualifier number two. We made some minor adjustments to the Uh to the Jets Hopefully it's good this time.
I think we're dialed some new plugs. yeah and we watched some footage. Very important. We got a lot more prepared.
Do you learn anything from the footage? Spence Yeah you learned a lot last one dude. I Honestly was so far behind the boat Spencer saved me dude. he was like left. I was like all right.
All right all right now. I have it memorized. Foreign. There we go.
Let's go boys. Q2 And right let's go 47 596 Oh the boys are excited. let's go outside. Oh that felt good.
Let's go. by the time y'all did your first turn I was like that thing's running right? seconds come on. Four seconds. Four seconds.
That was the first time we were in one of those big long turns that I was like I could feel the G's like it is like taking the breath. Oh yeah, let's get her cleaned up. look at the data logs, go out there for Q3. Oh no.
oh she's legit smoked brother. All right guys. Well we're looking through the data now. Someone else in our class won a 47 and one guy went a high 45.
so it's still a second and a half ahead of us. We're really happy with our 47 though. we're in the top three now. we're feeling good, got our confidence back in the boat? There is one thing I want to address where the boat kind of.
when I go into a right turn I just put a slight ride input. It feels like the boat's trying to hook around the turn like it really wants to turn right. We're gonna try and figure out how to balance that out so it waits for my steering input versus trying to make the corner on its own. which I think we can change the fins on the back of the boat.
but overall she felt good. We're also going to add a little bit more jet too because we picked up so much power by putting the Richer jet in. We're gonna go one more size. there's 79 Jets We're gonna go up to an 80 Jet and see what that feels like.
It's how we looking. it's pretty. It's still on the lean side so the timing mark looks nice. Timing works perfect.
I would just up put a little bit bigger jet in it. you want to go up. Two clicks, two clicks, you won't really see anything. It literally felt like it picked up 150 horsepower when we did that.
I was like holy crap when I floored it. So if we keep going that way I'm all for it. Idle just a little bit less. Yeah! I'd say another half turn on idol Zach What are you doing down there? Bud? get fins off here.
All right guys. We're gonna shorten the fin in the center of the boat by one millimeter and see if that helps our our hooking a little bit on the turn. Well, I'm a little worried about this heel. Chase We basically reduced the amount of grip the center one of the Pacific Northwest services that's close. We got five minutes, five minutes back. What's the deal? We're good. Uh, so basically the accelerator pump didn't get put on in the right place. All right.
Q3 We're going for the push-off. Let's go. Thank you evening. Let's go.
Andy went faster 47-424 with hopping through the corner I Can't believe he gathered that back up. Definitely looser with that smaller Shield A little more bouncy through the corner. you really gathered it up I Want that other one on back on? Yeah! I Think we go back to the other one and we try reducing the fins on the back. Yes, all right guys.
Well Zach's under there changing our fins. We're gonna change to the middle fin back to what we had because it felt a little too loose for me and then we're going to change this fan on our right-handed turns to a smaller fin that we used to run on the boat. This one's a little bit too aggressive and that might be contributing to our really hard right turns which I know, doesn't make a ton of sense, but that's what the guys who built this boat are suggesting I do right now. So I'm gonna listen to them, please change that.
And then the other thing we're going to do is also try and put the nose of the boat in the water a little bit more by changing the angle of our nozzle just down a little bit. It's going to push the nose in so I'm gonna grab a little nozzle shim. We're gonna make that adjustment and try that for the next round and we'll try that and we'll be done with our qualifiers so you know We're just testing. At this point we're not far off the leader so might as well get some data and try and pick up some time with just making the boat better and then you'll just have to push it really hard later.
All right guys, we've got a little piece of a Mountain Dew Can what we're going to do is put it in the top here to angle that nozzle down just the slightest bit to get that nose down. Hopefully make it through the wake a little bit better. The wake is getting really rough out there so hopefully this helps. All right? So last qualifier of the day and we'd like 46.
you know the only place is a good spot. Made some changes that I don't know how the boat's gonna react a lot of changes but I would like to. Just All right. All right we got Q4 see if we can pull up 46.
Foreign. Oh my gosh, yeah yeah, let's go. let's go Foreign. Foreign likes all them changes that's for sure.
Let's go 46.377 Dude a 40 things like that nothing feel a lot better about tomorrow because because I'm not gonna lie, those wings worrying me a little bit wakes worry me a little bit. That's how we got in the fence last time I Think that nose down trim that we just had. dude, it was so planted. that felt good. so this is the 46 second one that's throttle right there. Full Throttle For a long time, a lot of wide open throttle time there. so I don't have a lot of time left in engine power I Got a lot of time in driving I'm gonna have to pick up our time through there. Yeah, probably right.
Here is where you hit the Wake pretty hard yeah 4Gs and wide open for a while, but there's definitely some spots where I had to go off the throttle a little bit, but dude. Ribbon 7 400 RPM All right guys. Well, we got through the fast guys and it looks like we're gonna be number two in qualifying for today. So our 46 three, it's number two.
This guy Bill went up 45.58 That's going to be really hard to chase down, but I think we got some time on there because I messed up a few cores and then we've got a 47 2 from Pure insanity and then a 47-1 so it's gonna be really tight. Just got to get out there tomorrow and hopefully kill it. Qualifying went well, stayed in the water which is what you guys wanted. Didn't hit the fence so we'll see you tomorrow for the big race, but that's it for now.
Thanks for watching news.
You need to have Mr Derek Bieri come whisper sweet nothings to your carburetor ❤
Never got this if the navigator knows the course so we’ll let him drive
@cleetusmcfarland that really was a killer ship station commercial guys.
Build it break it fix it ♾️
Spencer you're amazing. And that kind of speed, in that kind of dangerous situation, and limited time to learn the course. You are amazing. Spence and cleat for the win
This sport brings true meaning to the term when in doubt throttle out.
Hell Yeah, Awesomeness!!!! Brother
First you almost knocked the guy out of the chair at auburndale….. Then you're ruined the guy's meal 😂😂😂 You are definitely epic my man. And it was a pleasure meeting you. #73
Man, can you imagine grinding away at this sport for a while, polishing and honing your skills, then some giraffe turns up one day and asks to have a go, then beats your best time into the actual weeds, beating the fastest guy in the field. Cleet is such a natural wheel man he's just in a different class.
Remembering that route on paper is a task, remembering it and performing the turns when your trying to go as fast as possible and with what's basically a flat featureless course is a whole other ball game…….respect!!!!
Need an orange or yellow glove for the navigator
Curious how long that patch job took. Looks like a lot of hours in that time lapse.
Thats some driving Son!!!! 🤘🤘
If Cleetus doesn't get sponsored by mtn dew he needs to change his boat vinyl wrap to cleeter dew and have it freedom blue and black
