I know this is old but just seeing it now. On those plastic lines. All you needed is a push lock union fitting. Most stores sell them like napa or norther tools or tractor supply. They have ones that hold 150 or 300psi. Just cut the line and push each end in the fitting. Done! Have used them for that same problem before. Never an issue. Add some in your road gear. Only a few bucks.

Should've been DQ'd right there for letting that army work on the car. The only people allowed to work on the car are the ones that ride in the car. Good thing RMRW has no officiating…I guess anything for the 'tube or 'gram.
