I don't understand why everyone here is saying buy him a new transmission/truck/etc.
Good friends help each other out. That doesn't mean that he should now give him the equivalent of $4,000+ for doing so. That's a bit ridiculous. We all know that Cleetus would've given him an upgraded transmission had his failed on this trip. And Cleetus would've done the same for him.
That character is what matters.
