I'm competing in what's called Arkansas a backwoods flying competition where I'll be flying our carbon Cub around a course where you have to take off land on a Runway over on the other side of this Ridge Land do a 180 take back off as fast as you can and then fly back this direction. Once you clear that Ridge there's another Runway over there.

you got to land on that one. Do another 180 take back off land on this original Runway that's right behind us. There's two pylons at the end of this. Runway You got to clear them and then land as short as you can.

Then the judges take however many seconds it took you to complete that course plus however many feet it took you to land from the pylons to where your airplane stops. they combine how many seconds it was, how many feet it was, and then assess you any penalties like flying in between the pylons and that's how you get a score. All right guys. Carbon cup.

Took a little nap last night. Look at all these planes out here. man shoot which. we had a turbo like this guy I'm like that guy what we're gonna make do with what we got so we're making sure everything is dialed in.

We're going to get our tire pressure set which we're gonna run a little bit less tire pressure today. so we got a little squishier tire. We're checking our fuel how much we got so we know exactly what we have before we go out. We're getting dialed in.

We'll be racing here pretty soon. All right. So this is the guy that's closest to us in competition. He actually wasn't in our class yesterday and he moved in.

He got a 574. on practice day, his first run right now just went a 5-11 We did a 571 yesterday. He lands super short. There's nice little headwind right now.

Pancakes all right guys. So he went a 5-11 You know, between his time and his Landing distance, we can't really go much faster than the time we had yesterday which was 170 seconds I think I could definitely get it to 165. but then that's 65 points. You got to make up.

It's all going to be in the landing I got to come over those pylons like this high and just dump it in to get the plane stopped. So yeah, we're up against now. Yeah, that's gonna be a tight one. Can't break the beam on the pylons.

We gotta land short short so let's go try it out. All right bro, here we go. Like we know, that guy did a 511. It's so much better than we did yesterday.

but It's Gonna Fly To The Best of my abilities I'd say have a good time. You know it's our first one. we can't get too caught up in the competition so let's go out there and do it. Looks like a little bit of a Tailwind Now it's gonna be even harder to land short, but we got this dude.

Well, obviously the pressure is on a little bit being that we know we got someone ahead of us, but we got to do our thing. We're in an airplane. we're not in a race car. if I you know, screw up trying to push it too hard I could get really hurt.

They were definitely slower sooner than I wanted to be, but that's probably better because we want this Landing to be short here. he comes out of Driftwood so you should be coming around. In fact, no penalties. Very first one at a stove.

Five feet I pulled up. It's a lot better than yesterday. but man I can't believe I pulled up. That cost us the win.

Guys probably didn't just blow it for us. Oh my gosh, let's go Boy let's go boys. All I know is uh, we're gonna be really close on whether we beat this guy I got this double feet by pulling up. If I lose by that then I don't deserve it.

That would be the most cleanest thing ever for me to have pulled up that five feet and lost because of that. So I came in a lot slower there. but I had such a shorter Landing So man it's really a toss-up but I think ideally I just do that. Cletus you can line up and wait.

We set it up perfectly. We trained for this exact reason and we got a freaking amazing trophy. We won the light sport class which had about 20 planes in it the biggest class and uh, we did it with a mostly stock plane so that's really exciting and I'm so stoked to come back, so put Arkansas on your calendar for next year. We're definitely going to try and come back.

Wound up and and uh, thankful for all of you. I mean we're racing airplanes Like what the heck happened? How did we end up racing airplanes? Guys? It's all because of you guys watching our show. and uh, literally. we wouldn't be doing any of this without you.
