It was a bummer day for Mullet Zach and I, but we made the call to save Mullet's engine instead of potentially hurting it even worse...

Hell yeah, brother, you're on the please before on YouTube channel. Good morning. Burlington We got some Mustangs out here. Old mullet chilling out dude.

a little cold for mullet, man golly. I Thought we ordered warmer weather than this morning. Brother: I Like to walk up here and make sure no one's stuffed anything in our turbos overnight. that's good.

A little oily but good. We're dialed. let's hit the road. Brother: Zach and I still have to hit the second checkpoint which is near the track.

Good morning. All the noises makes it a little easier and bad at all. Brother Brother: let me drive that. Let me drive that.

I Want to drive a train? So bad. All right. Another new one for us Great Lake Dragway Yeah, we're here at 7 A.M Nice and early. The sun comes up super early here though.

It's cool. It's like a good old track right here. Are you guys feeling up for an early morning? Hell yeah, brother. All right.

Oh, hold on. hold on. hold on. we got a spice this up.

One two three. There we go. All right. Fresh plugs in this unit.

We are switching over to Methanol. We're about to try it out and do a little two-step check. Thank you to use a laptop. That's that's too much.

Okay, let me grab it. I'm really glad we did a two-step check because the Boost is climbing out of control. Wow was like dang denim. Dan What are you doing out here? You're looking good all right.

Zach And I's goal has been to be the first person in the lanes so we can be the first car down on the radial prep and we finally accomplished that today. So we still have to wait a while, but we'll get radio prep and we'll be the first ones on it. Pretty sweet track here. We got a concrete starting line up to about uh, 200 feet or so.

That's pretty nice. Tom it's 9 A.M on a Wednesday and look at all these people. I mean this is amazing. All right guys, we're at Great Lakes Dragway Day number three.

Hopefully we get a good pass here. The track's okay, hopefully it'll hold a 685 about to find out. Thank you! Let's go foreign. foreign.

What the hell? Car won't start? call Zach All right. well, we're sitting down here. Car won't start. I Guess that uh I didn't bump in because I wanted to pull in and then get on the brake and build exactly seven pounds of boost and leave because the car is making so much boost on the trans brake.

Well, I guess I took longer than the one second reaction time you have to have. So so apparently our slip might not count. Complete idiot because it's completely my fault. We'll let down and the car won't start.

so we might now get to run in the same session again, which is brutal. We got the car running. the throttle position sensor popped off so we had no team. All right guys.

current status: The TPS bolts they're all position sensor bolts came out TPS sensor fell off. That's why the car wouldn't restart I screwed up. That's the reason why we can't accept that 681 pass. Now my laptop's updating itself which sucks, but we're trying to get back up there right now.
just a minute I can't start it until I plug in. Okay, well then we went from first car in the class with fresh prep to last car in the class. Now was probably not as good a prep. We did not change the tune, we were just hoping that the track is good enough to do it again.

Foreign PSI a little pressure. yeah okay, oh maybe the belt's gone. Oh I mean it goes up when you grab it. Oh no.

okay, let me check the Clear View yeah I mean as I saw in the morale box and I that's why I revved it a couple times after the burnout. the TPS is all out of whack. that's all out of whack. I knew that I saw it and that's fresh oil in it too I mean oil temperature so it's not like no.

I mean we had 40 50 pounds at that temperature. You know what? Steve said pull the fan all right. So we got. we got metal in there brother it was, uh, it was getting in the oil pressure safety in the burnout I believe that's what? I believe I don't know I thought it was just a TPS just being long here.

Yeah? I'm not sure. So for being completely transparent here, what did we do this morning with that green bucket over there? we should. We showed it to Steve Yeah, he said let her eat letter E. So we checked our pan.

you know we changed oil, checked our pan had a little bit of metal in it. We took it over to Steve He said letter e and that that's a smooth one that's in this morning. That's a problem. There you go.

The rods are good. We knew we already had too much charge pressure for the last time we're there. When I was down to replace that Thruster we set the thrust bearing up at seven thousands. This thing's definitely got closer to 20 25 right now so it's grown.

Would that hurt our oil pressure? Um, uh, somewhere in there probably would, but it seems like maybe our converter is still pushing the crank forward like we had happen right when we got the engine. Yeah, yeah, this is definitely way more than what it was. You don't have a Thrust bearing with you, do you? No, no. And it must be getting right after it because it's going through the going through the roller bearing which is right here.

All right. after it gets bad enough, what happens, is it. it pushes this crankshaft all the way forward like this, then the rods start going up and down. I Don't want to damage it to the point of you know, costing a ton of money to fix right now.

it's probably just some bearings away from being fixed, right? Yeah, there's no reason to to try and Limp it along and potentially destroy it I think so Want to see you kill it? No, yeah, all right. So if you guys remember last time Steve flew in and fixed the engine. this is the same exact scenario. We killed the thrust bearing in the back of the engine and we never changed anything since that.
I Just thought that you know maybe the new bearings would make it go away. And keep in mind too that this converter was the same one that was on our old big block. It does make relatively High charge pressure like 100 PSI on a trans brake, but it's not enough to be shoving the crank through the engine. We don't think we really don't know 100 what is happening.

We don't know if our transmission spacing from the engine is enough. we did it how they want us to set it up, but maybe it's not right I don't know so we just have to really get to the bottom of it in the shop. But I don't want to sit around speculating whether it was the engine itself or the transmission causing it I Know everyone wants to point fingers in these types of situations, but it really doesn't matter until we get into the shop and we're just gonna fix it regardless. So let's not all go crazy hunting down the engine builder or the transmission.

More than anything, it's my foot's fault. flooring it just too damn hard. Don't go crazy in the comments. Going on a winch hunt for someone causing this damage.

This is drag racing cars break down. It is okay. very unfortunate, but uh, it is what it is. One two three, you're done Mullet.

I All right so these kind fellas are giving us a ride to Cordova Appreciate the help guys. Thanks so much. Absolutely let's do this. All right guys.

Big thanks for the drive over here a couple hours. You saved us. Really appreciate it and we gotta plug the fact that this guy's selling this truck. Man I Don't know.

Someone buy it. Someone buy it. Hit up Final Finish. You can hit up his shop if you want to buy this unit.

He'll clean the stuff out of the bed for you too. Oh yeah, that's part of it. Toad Perfect. Man.

Toad perfect. So we're gonna load up on the wedge and get on out of here.

Brother you drag race. You put these engines and transmissions through hell. Stuff happens and when you race to be first stuff breaks. Love your content keep it up. To the cleetus crew I have to say, hell yeah brother.

Please clean our or replace your entire oiling system. No more false positives!!!!

No your transmission bellhousing is probably warn and moving more pressure against the crankshaft. Get a second bellhousing and compare sizes. It happens with aluminum bellhousings through compression. With a dye test you can see if it has started to micro fracture.

    Denim Dan!!! 😂😂😂

I bet the low oil pressure is because the bypass from the oil pump is stuck open….

I BET ITS THE OIL PUMP

And now I'm back here again from Steves video haha 💯👍👍

Converter is too tight against the flex plate. Once it builds pressure in the converter it’s jamming all that pressure into the bearing.

I may sound stupid, but what exactly is a 2 STEP CHECK???

Are they coming to rocky mountain race week??
