Are we getting a cart yeah? It's like. We need a cart looking for the flex seal on the other side, all right! Thank you. Hmm, just what we needed to see there's a lot of different types. I just kind of wasn't expecting this likes tape.

You can double up. You know what i think we're gon na need some help. I don't know which one's rated for the most temperature - hey. I'm a local scientist, i'm a local scientist and i was wondering if you could help me with some paint.

I will in a few minutes so, okay, what are we working with here? Yeah? Can you help us? I try perfect. You got any experience using this stuff with a head gasket for like a vehicle, we need to know what the highest rated temperature flex seal available is with a head gasket. Yes, what kind of temperature i mean! You don't know this stuff off top of your head. I'm gon na go googling, that's what i'm gon na do unbelievable crystal clear, instant grab and hold works under water.

That's not a bad! I mean that could go good with the water in the water 80 to 350 negative 80 degrees to 350 degrees. Fahrenheit! Oh! That's! For the original you might want to use like the tube stuff, because it's more like going to be like your gasket material for like the gasket stuff, oh you're, thinking, flex paste, that's kind of where i'm thinking i don't know how. Well, it's going to hold up seals out. The elements fills large gaps and holes apply on wet or dry.
This might be the dry time on that puppy 24 hours yeah, but are we really using flex seal? This is flex paste, it's flex, seal video, basically silicone. We know that works. How many of these we need? George, we need og flex seal, we think just one, no, probably like at least like 12 or 13, probably just yeah. Thank you, jeffrey that'll, be all that's a good one dude.

What a great guy dude down here, helping us no turning back now we got to buy them all. I was just kind of doing it as a stunt, but did you see how much they are can both of them walked up on us? Do you see how well they're 13 i'll go hide those? What jeffrey jeffrey? Are you serious dude? You didn't tell us about the flex seal max down here, see i don't know anything about the flex seal max one. Just a different can guys don't be fooled by the marketing hey. I asked you first, no, you disappeared.

I said i didn't. No jeffrey came to my house dude i mean, but i am this local scientist. I said. Okay, i got a customer ahead of you.

Well, what are you can you tell me more, i need to know the temperatures that flex seal is good for i'm building the head gasket out of it jeffrey said, it'll hold a thousand horsepower and tell jungkook how i come from arabia. How many camels have done? How many camel powers? It's been a wonderful experience, you know what i'm never going to home depot again. Do you think you think we got enough? George, just barely. I think it's barely enough.

All right, you're, not dude. It's like a doctor: either dude, that's a special live joke yeah! Oh it's a chef coat! Oh no one button in just no! You don't have to when it's a forex you just slaughter over there. It looks like a little kid now we're just cleaning up this motor for this thumbnail, but this is actually a good representation of how james works on his own cars all right guys. So, since this is a science channel, we got to teach something.

If you didn't know a head, gasket goes on the deck of the engine, and then the cylinder head, which is one of these right here, goes on top of this and sandwiches it to the block and the job. The head gasket is to keep the pressure. That's inside the cylinder from escaping, so if that air escapes it'll get into your water jackets here and then, when you get pressure in your coolant system, that's when you know your head, gas is bad, usually for us it starts blowing water out the radiator cap or, Worse, if you blow your head gas, really bad, it can blow pressure. You know down through the bottom of the head and it can actually send like fire through here and torch.
Your head put a big hole in it, so the head gasket's really important, especially when you run a really high amount of boost. It's got to keep a lot of pressure inside that cylinder, so we use a lot of different types of head gaskets and today we're going to ditch the metal head gaskets, all together, change it out for flex seal, which is advertised too stop leaks fast. This is a liquid rubber, sealant coating and we're going to try it out on george's blazer, because the head gasket is bad. So this is the cylinder head off the blazer right now we're going to start coating, this puppy up put a few coats on it.

It's kind of got to be thick because if it's too thin, the valves and pistons might say hi to each other, you know so a normal head gasket has a little bit of thickness to it. So we got to kind of put a few layers on there and then we're going to clamp it down fire it up see if it holds it's so so thick dude, it's so thick, don't make sure you get enough of it. So your quench is right. Dude! We're not going to have to put that many layers on maybe two or three guys so at the top of the finish, so they can handle more heat.

Oh, this is race week right here on the road in a jiffy, you probably leave it on the pistons it'll burn right off yeah. I think you leave the overspray and it becomes a protective uh. Top coat for extra heat can really turn up your chain up. Then you're spraying on this crack piston look right right here, guys we had a cracked piston, where literally sealed it, not cracked anymore spray, some more in there.

It's not cracked anymore. All right looks like we're going through with this project. Let's head over to the blazer all right guys, so we kind of we're looking at this from a couple different angles: we could spray the block or we could spray the cylinder head. I mean: what do you guys? Think, fellow scientists, i mean you only got two and a quarter piston yeah, so i mean you could just coat her up.

Wiper i mean i feel like we need to take them off. At least the pistons. You don't want to tape off not doing the kevlar flex seal coating. You know we're testing theories here, we're not just proving something.

This is a what's that h word. This is a. We got a hypothetical hypotenuse. Let's do one variable at a time and that's going to be the head gasket piston protection.

We can do another day, nice job, dr jt. You really cut these clean. You just slide them right in there we're doing one thick coat or multiple thin coats. We'll do a couple two thin coats, two medium coats, two medium coats right! Oh, oh, you missed fire dude.

It is first big surgery, sorry mine's a little different, all right! Dude! Here we go. Should i start at the top start at the bottom you're? The doctor. I don't know good job that was, that was a test. Oh dude, this is gon na be guaranteed.
Hopefully those threads are golden. If this head gasket leaks, i will just be amazed: okay, you're at medium for sure, medium to moderate dude. Look at the texture! Oh, i am feeling so good about this. I don't know if i like my strategy as much as i did.

It's. Okay just hold it further away. I have less pressure dude that is gon na work, so good one more one, more yeah, yeah yeah do another. One we've maybe used a third of this.

Can it's a lot of flexibility, dude thick coat of flex seal all right so now that we have trial number one set up and ready in the morning we're gon na go ahead and stick this cylinder head on the blazer? Ah scientists. This is looking pretty good, guys are flex seal cured up overnight, run situation, it's not ideal there. So now the plan is after thinking about it overnight. What we're gon na do is throw one more coat of flex seal on here and while it's wet we're gon na go ahead and put the cylinder head on the engine, tighten it down and then let it cure call it the seal coat.

That's the seal coat. So we need to get uh get this ready. I say we spray the block and then we pop this sucker on all right, dr steady hands, get the cylinder head ready. We need one stick on this: let's go get all this out of the way, not a thick cut enough yeah, let's thicken, that up a notch.

All right here we go here. We go the wet bonding going on down in there. How are we looking? Can you look through the bolt hole? Look at that hammer might need a hammer. Oh watch.

The valves did not budge nice. Is it down yeah. It went down no problem doctor no mess around you scrabble all right: okay, yeah, you're, good! Okay! To stop it! Oh, there ain't water, it's working outside of the head. Yet is there not yet hey, look yeah, don't look just close your eyes all right, guys we'll have the blazer running momentarily sam.

You think the head gasket's gon na work, perfect, billy mays, would be proud of it yeah. He would here we go folks. Hopefully we don't hear you out the side of the head. Oh all right doesn't sound that bad guys, hey it's actually working dude.

It's. I think it's actually working the valve train's a little noisy, but, according to my calculations, our hypotheses, oh already, a win for sure yeah, there's not a lot of air pressure in here and it's holding what was in it. So i mean right now: the head gasket is definitely holding yeah. It's sealed it'd be pouring out of here.

If it wasn't keep this pointed up, so we know so we know so if this starts spraying water guys, we know the head gas is compromised. Dr george, why don't you pull her back there? Let's get a naturally aspirated hit across the parking lot yeah. Let's do just a first-year hit off right. Actually, it's not that bad.

Besides the horrible knocking sound wow all right doctor spray and pray. Will you turn the knife on yeah? It needs to be sprayed. That's a good test. That's a true test! Dude! I think it's still holding cold pressure because feel there's still.
Oh wow yeah got a little expansion, a little contraction just what flex seal does man? Let's spray the nitrous in this baby, are you ready or what i'm ready dude? What's your guesstimation, she gon na hold the nitrous all right right. Chip does not sound great. What that thing ripped for a minute! Oh wait! You got to spill it hit it again. You definitely just blew the head gasket there.

She goes. Water came out, the top of the head too. Oh my god broke off dude dude, it just sprayed water out of every crevice. It could have.

She still runs. Okay, it's done back up back up. Yeah! Don't fan it, don't fan it hit it there. You go joker, everybody, safe, everybody's good.

Ladies and gentlemen, what we've learned today on the cleves mcfarland science channel, is that, yes, you can use, fly steel for your head gasket. However, with the addition of nitrous, your flex seal may not pass the test. We did a first gear, pull no issues across the parking lot. Naturally aspirated.

However, when we added in the nitrous, it went ahead and blew the head gasket out of the entire engines. Flex, steel does work, but only up to about 300 horsepower is our guesstimations here today. That's another video here on the cleese mcfarland science channel drop your ideas in the comments below thanks for watching, do it. For now we will freaking, see you later.

You.

Will flex seal actually repair a hole in the hull of a boat? According to the infomercials yes, but tune in next week to find out if it works for cleeter and gang

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Laurean 599 says:

The only reason it didn't work is because you did it wrong! You need to hand tighten the head, let it cure and then torque it down so it can't squirt out the sides
