We said yeah between states, that's true, yeah, oh between straight yeah, but he just ignored that. I feel like we never settled that before you know, i think he operated in the gray area.

The rule book is just broken. I'm i'm not gon na lie. Looking looking at the pictures, it might be a jet boat, which really definitely think it's a big block. That's a heartbreaker for me yeah because i love it headers.

I thought that's what i'm saying. I saw open header and i was like that looks like jet boat, like early 80s all week he's been putting his phone in my ear. Is he undoubtedly here he is dude gosh i feel like he's, got something just ridiculous. Oh, my gosh look: how low it is holy, crap wow.

What kind of trailer is this thing that racing boat? This is a legit racing mode for sure, dude! Stop it no way. This is twenty five hundred dollars all right. We need to see some paperwork right now. Dude stop this.

You flew to tennessee rented a car. Does that go in the budget i asked before i left, i said: does travel expenses come out of budget or pocket? Everyone responded pocket. So i was like perfect.

I found the cheapest allegiant flight at 4. 30 a.m. From st p clearwater to memphis tennessee. The boat was 20 minutes from the airport, bought one-way tickets.

There's return flights back at four. If the boat wasn't dead, ty's a lot of people, i was like listen um, i'm gon na come there. I'm gon na try to get the boat freed up and running. If it runs i'll take it, if not i'm going home, they said no problem all right guys so week into the challenge, we're the only ones without a boat.

But what i've been saying is patience is a virtue in this, because we are going to get probably the best deal on the baddest boat in this competition. As you can see, it's dark and it's not dark because it's light, it's actually dark because it's early, it's a matter of fact. 5 17 a.m in the morning, and we just parked at the airport, where we're going dude we're gon na go, get the fastest race boat in win, some trophies. In this thing - oh yeah, pretty solid. This rental car smells like old, mcdonald's, pickles and butt crackers and cigarettes, and some cigarettes yeah we're probably not the first ones to look up what cars come with these from the factory and rent it. You have my son's boat yep and i brought some stuff to make sure the motor is not locked up right and i just want to make sure it's not locked up, because then it's gon na pretty much decide for how much i try to barter with you On the price you know exactly exactly and then the other thing too is um, because i know lance puts something up to it where it runs water, yeah, i'm not going to run.

If it runs, i ain't going to run it long. I just want to make sure that the motor is not locked yeah. I have a youtube channel and stuff, so is it okay, if i film, absolutely okay, all right guys so we're here we made it um the boat's in front of me, and it is exactly what i thought it'd be and it is a freaking either. Let me show you guys start up here, so you can see it's a very low sleek jet boat like, but this is the kicker old big block chevrolet in the back to a jet pump out back here saying is an absolute unit.

It's race, car red. You know everything red always wins. You just ask leroy anything ever lined up next to ruby, always lost, because it's uh, you know that race, car red we have boats been sitting for a little bit, as you can tell there's a little bit of sitting water in there and whatnot, but they did Give me permission to tinker with it a little bit make sure that the motor is good and not locked up, and then, if you know the motor is freed up and good looks like it's got a newer carburetor on it. You can see it on there.

Holley carburetor, it's got a wind uh air gap intake on there, pretty decent intake, so we're gon na do some tinkering with it. You know motor doesn't look bad shape. You know it looks fairly clean and nude the surface deck does have no rust on it's all. Iron deal, it's got arp head bolts on it and newer.

Looking heads um, it's a fresh water pickup deal. So if i do get it running, i ain't going to keep it running long, just to keep it cool uh. It's got an alternator on there everything's there. We went ahead and got that battery hook, our headers over the overhaul header thing's, pretty sick got uh.

Some basic tools, pull the spark plug out and if you can see that, but look how clean that thing is not a speck of rust, not a spec. Anything on there now, if this motor was locked up or rusted up, you'd find rust on this spark plug and water residue. Anything like that. This thing is clean as a whistle jack stand.

Why don't you show us what we got going on here now, after a little bit of some redneck engineering and some fiddling and flopping we're zigging, when we should be oh bring that thing up see on these old chevys? Sometimes you need to you, can't start them. Yeah, like a model, a model t all right, try that it's getting there one step closer and we just got ta get to keep spinning a little bit of dr pepper and atf yeah. It's crazy! You pour that down in the carbon. She wants to kick right on over.

If we had a red bull, this thing would have done a kickflip. It would have flipped off the trailer backwards red wire this one. Oh, i told you to get her to run. We got us a hot rod buddy.

Well, i think she might need to take the trip home. What do you think? I don't think we have a choice. I mean we got some wheeling and dealing. We got to do because it is a lot rougher than we anticipated and uh.

We can't spend every penny on it, or else we will have a boat that runs on starting fluid so from what i can gather from this like what i personally think it needs. I think if we can leave here today with a thousand dollars of our budget, we can definitely have us a race-ready boat come race day. If that's a solid front, runner yeah contender, it is a little rougher than i was anticipating, but it's not bad yeah. The hole is solid: the wood floor above the hole that you mount like your pedals, your seats, your all your stuff, too, that stuff's pretty rotted, but that has to be expected on a boat.

That's been sitting for a while um other than that, though hearing it hearing it, you know kick over and run, makes me want it even more than i did before. I came from florida to tennessee, so we are a long ways out. That is for sure, we'll do some talking and we'll check back in with you guys here in a second. After a long day, it was about 30 hours of being awake driving from the time we woke up to fly to tennessee to get this boat, we got ty back here, working on the jet pump, we're gon na, not that it's not working when we did have It running when we went pick the boat up, you could feel it pushing air with the little bit of time. We did have the boat running, so we just want to take it apart. Lube everything, clean everything, make sure. There's no rust make sure there's no bearing that needs to be replaced because a six dollar bearing now could save tearing up this jet drive.

So it's one thing we want to do so we're going to take it apart. Also, the linkage on it and all this stuff is loose. Someone just put a new cable on it. This cable is brand new, so uh.

We want to make sure that we, you know, get everything set up properly and then make sure it turns, and all that stuff, so giant, piece of wood stuck in there. Some egg, corns and a bunch of cobwebs - and it looks like down in here - is pretty nasty. So we're going to go ahead and pull this casing off and that'll. Take all this ribbing out of the way and then we'll get in there and clean it.

All up, it is definitely overdue for some maintenance a little bonus action here. This boat came with a working filter pump. It looks like it's from 1943, but it works like it's. A 2022 prototype hell yeah all right, so got the steering wheel bolted out of the hub, and it is you know up.

Freeze spinning got our two by six cut. I'm gon na put some lag bolts stringer into the two by six and then our hot foot is which what the gas pedal is. They call it a hot foot, uh we're bolted right to that two by six, some long boy lag bolts, oh yeah, no risking it for the biscuit on this one. All right, boats, hooked up to the truck hot foot's done and installed steering wheel's hooked up wired.

We've got gas got a running boat. You ready water test number one underway, foreign, oh a little more, that's good, solid rip, air cleaners and carp tuning. I think we got a sparkle wire too. That's bad picking up a miss, but we got us a 60 mile.

An hour boat, it's the smallest weekend a little little. This way, a little that way, yeah yeah it floats it, don't sink, don't take on no water. Bilge pump works like a champ dude and we still got money left still. Money left in the challenge, which is sick.

So what was it sitting for a while uh the dude who owned the boat has owned it since the 80s yeah he had recently just passed away. He was in the process of getting the boat back up and running. No way like the new trailer tires and some other are you kidding me and he had it sitting there. He had it sitting there and uh.

He had passed away. The family carburetor on the family was selling off all his stuff to help some expenses. They put it up for sale for 2500 obo. I told him i said: look.

I came to spend 1500 bucks. I've seen that it's gotten me tired, i'll, give you 18.. So would you buy it off facebook or something found it on facebook yeah no way. So you paid 1800 bucks.

How much does carburetor cost uh used hundred bucks? What about that distributor? That was a 60 bucks that gear head? Oh, my gosh wires! There's a big crack up here! We got. Oh look at the foot. Look at the foot! How much was that? How much was that two by six, that was the most expensive car? I was like 17, look all rewired, oh yeah, that was done. That was not done.

This bus bar was in the boat and it's got like maybe 16 bucks and wires. Dude, i'm still under budget. I got enough budget to spray the house down on this thing, so y'all don't be worried, hold on hey dan you're. Getting nitrous.

I got budget left, i'm at 2133. The way it is. Are you kidding me? I need to see some receipts for these fuel lines. Hey.

You know what i see. That's a little fuel tank. That is a little that's a little. This thing's going to burn some fuel.

Is such a like three minutes behind the rental car because the rental car can you get a big enough drop pitch in the trailer all the way from tennessee? I am displeased when we were driving back and it got dark. You could tell when it would hit a bump, because all the cars would swerve behind us. Oh the shooting sparks like every time. No way.

He hit something to try to fix with a bondo. Instead of fiberglass, all right nose is up out on water the entire time, so we're good does it rip like. Is it actually quick? If i showed you that i had six firing, spark plugs and told you what it did? You wouldn't believe me it literally. This is not good dude, it literally sits like this and just goes and goes.
